To start this project, I drew a quick a sketch of turtles on a beach.
I then rolled a slab that I was going to build up on. I rolled another slab as well to create the waves I would attach later.
I then made a turtle to place in the sand. I carved the shell by using a dull pencil to create the grooves.
I glazed the ocean and the turtle with mixes of various colors of blues and greens. I did an extra coat of green on the turtle shell to make it darker than the legs and head.
To make the sand, I mixed wood glue with saw dust so that it would stick to the ceramic slab. Afterwards, I sprayed it with polyurethane to make sure the sand doesn't fall off. By doing this, it also made the sand look as if it were wet.
