For teenager I wanted to make a project revolving around a bird since teenagers have to spread there wings and fly. I found a bowling pin and decided I wanted to make it into a duck.
To do this I cut the top off at an angle to make both the head and tail shape. I then flattened a piece where I was going to place the head so it would stay.
I hand carved the beak out of a different piece of wood and then attached the beak to the head. After that I attached the head to the body and sanded everything.
I then decided to put the duck inside of a crate on inside to symbolize a sheltered life. Also the neck looked very long so i cut a slice off to make the duck look better.
I burned cat tails into the background as well as a pond under the duck.I then stained the crate a light stain to bring out the burn. I decided to make the stain a little darker so I stained it a second time to finish off the project.
