Since during retirement people usually take vacation i decided to represent it by making a beach scene. I had a found conch shell so I decided to use that to make the umbrella.
I used a drill to cut the top of the seashell and crushed up the rest of it so i could use it to put in the sand.
I then used a piece of wood and created borders so when i made the clay waves and poured sand in it would be able to stay.
I then made two lounge chairs chairs out of wood to put under the seashell umbrella.
After completing that, I made the waves out of clay and waited for the clay to dry. Once the clay dried and was fired I painted the clay different shades and tints of blues greens and purples to make it look more like waves.
Once i finished painting I place the ocean inside of the box. I then finished the seashell umbrella and drilled a hole in the wood to make sure it stands. Then I mixed saw dust and wood glue in the box to make the sand. The wood glue made the the saw dust stay in the box as well as read as wet sand.
