To begin this project I rolled a slab. I then took the clay and draped it over a large sea shell.
When the clay hardened I carved a flat surface on the bottom of the sea shell. When I did this, one side was too heavy so the shell wobbled. I improvised and made a starfish to hold the shell up so it wouldn't fall over.
I then poked holes into the star fish to make it look more like a starfish. I tried to attach it to the shell but it was too hard to attach.
Once the clay was fired, I glazed the inside tan. I put a thicker coat on the deepened area and as the shell fanned out I put a lighter coat. Then I glazed 2 heavy coats of white over the entire shell.
To finish the project off I glazed the starfish creamy peach and pretty in pink.
