This piece was created to represent empty nest syndrome middle aged parents typically go through when their children leave the house.I started this project by gathering sticks to make a foundation for the birds nest.
I filled the foundation with Spanish moss and placed the nest a branch.
I then decided to make origami flowers to put on the branch. To make these I folded each petal separately and glued them together.
I made two orange flowers and a yellow to add color to the project.
After that, I drained two eggs which I painted blue and pink. I did this because the piece is mostly representative of my mother which will be experiencing this very soon when my twin brother (the blue egg) and I (the pink egg) move out.
I cracked the eggs and took the top pieces to make it look as if a bird had left the nest.
I added origami leaves to the flowers and glued everything together.
